Understanding Composing

S. Anne is a teacher of writing in New York City, she was one of many teachers taking a course in research and basic writing at the university. There they gave her an assignment which led her to tape herself while been given a topic. That way they later on, see how it takes her to come up with her own thoughts. This exercise not only helped Anne see her own ways of making her paper flow and the patterns she had while preparing for this paper, but the way it affected others train of thought while writing a paper as well. Anne really caught this writers eye by asking herself numerous questions of how to start and end a paper. The writer also explains the different types of writers. Some which reread what they’re reading right away, after a few sentences, or after a long period of time, this she calls a backward moment. In writing a paper it’s very important to have the sense in the right place, not to make it fuzzy or confusing is a big thing too. This article helps the reader out a lot in how to write a paper. It asks you the basic questions, in how to compose papers that are so basic that one forgets to ask.

Q. The author describes recursiveness as “a forward-moving action that exists by virtue of a backward-moving action. To what do writers move back? What is being repeated? Name some recursive elements.

R. The writers move back for two reasons, one of which is to see if what they have wrote make sense to them, and two, to read and see if the audience captured their point of view. When I write I hope for my paper to make sense to me and I hope that the people that are going to read my paper understand what I’m trying to get across. The patterns that are being repeated are rereading, key words, and felt sense. This happens to most of us while preparing for a composition. Writers reread bits of discourse, which means the shape of the frame of our words, vocabulary, or like an argument, the way we make our composition flow, the way we want our paper to capture the audience. We sometimes tend to use key words over again to get their point across, or they use felt sense which is the emotions of someone written is paper. Sometimes it might express them with our own experiences, memories, something they have observed someone else’s experiences and use them to get inspired, or anything like that, doesn’t have to be your personal experiences.
