SUMMARY

In Understanding Composing Sondra Perl, is talking about a group of students that were given an assignment to compose about “My Most Anxious Moment as a Writer” during this process the students made some analysis about it and they came to a conclusion that it is a recursive process, in which you have to return to what you have written in order to keep your process moving forward.

Some of recursive elements that we may use are: Reread, in order to see if we are going to where we want to go; use key words, so our topic would not be vague or out of structure; and use our felt of sense, as a writer, most of the time we have at least an idea of what we are going to write.

As we keep writing we can be linked to another feature of the composing process, which is called “Projective Structuring”, that is the ability to craft what we are intending to say so it’s easier to others to understand, in other words that as a writer you become a reader and you really understand what you are reading.

As we write we may find ourselves using one of these processes or maybe both of them, but they are just helping us to try that our readers will understand what we want them to understand.

Question and response:

Explain “felt sense” in your own words. How do you relate the description of “felt sense” in the reading to you own experience? Can you describe your “felt sense” when it comes to writing?

To me felt sense is when you have at least an idea of what you are about to write, and you have the ability to put together those experiences and emotions.

When I am reading or writing it really does help me because a I have a clear idea of what I am reading or writing based on experiences, thoughts, images, previous knowledge or comments that I’ve heard.

It is a process in which I can have to start brain searching in order to remember what I am actually doing.
