SQR 1

Summary:  In the article Understanding Composing by Sondra Perl,  She explains to the reader how in 1979 a writing teacher by the name of Anne was among a group of twenty other teachers who were taking a course in research and basic writing.  One of the assignments was for the teachers to tape their thoughts while composing on the topic.  The purpose of the assignment was for the teachers to see their own composing process at work.  She then also goes on to say that writing is a recursive process. in other words it just means that the writer usually goes back after they have written something and then keeps writing more and then goes back again. The writer is just repeating a series of steps in their writing process which is true most of the time.  Another topic she covers is felt sense.  Now felt sense is very interesting to me because I've had many experiences with felt sense.  Felt sense is when u have a thought in your mind that you just cant get to come out. Your just waiting and thinking harder trying to get that idea to click. Its very common in a lot of writers.  Projective structuring is also one of the important parts of composing process. Many writers think it is the only process and forget about their felt sense, thinking about what others want them to write instead of what it is they want to write.
Q:  What is "Retrospective Structuring"? What is "discovery"? How does the latter term differ from its common sense?
R:  Retrospective Structuring is when u got that thought or idea that is already there and u just need to bring it forward put it out. Your already beginning with what is there. Using structure and words to bring out the idea or thought u got in your mind.  Discovery is pretty much self explanatory.  Something that comes up as a surprise to our writing. Finding something that was there all along but not knowing  it was there. Most of the time when we discover something about our writing we tend to be successful and helps us or lifts our experiences.
