Summary:
In this article the author, Sondra Perl, is trying to explain to the reader about the best way to understand composing. She starts by telling the reader about a research in which teachers had to tape their thoughts in a certain topic. The reason for this was because she wanted them to realize what it takes for them to be able to compose. by this research Perl was able to have the outcome that there was a certain pattern when composing. One word that Perl uses a lot is recursive which means repeating itself and it is use to describe the basic features of composing. There are three recurring features that Perl thought were important; those are rereading what they have what they have written, keywords on the topic that they are writing, and the felt sense. Perl really goes into detail about how a writer should know what felt sense is and how to obtain it in order to be a successful writer. The writer also benefit from felt sense because they are able to discover new things about themselves and their capacity to write this can also be called retrospective structure as it was by Perl. But there is also projective structuring in which the writer in a way following a formula so there writing doesn't have a lot of felt sense.By this structure the writing. Perl shared these structure mainly so readers can understand a better way of composing.
QUESTION:
The author describes recursive as "a forward moving that exists by virtue of a backward-moving action."TO what do writers move back? What is being repeated? Name some recursive elements.
RESPONSE:
A writer goes back to what they have written in order analyze every thought so they can have a good result in their composition. They also go back to make sure that everything they are trying to convey to the reader is being understood and not getting them confused. As a writer one has to understand that what we write for the first time is not always going to be correct or our point might not get across. By going back to what one has written we can find the mistake we have done get the best result. What the writer is repeating is the pattern that helps the composition flow and be understandable to anyone. There are three essential recursive elements that are used by writers that should be applied when compsing. One of the recursive element is rereading the discourse which means going back to what you have written to check that your writing is taking the right course. Another recurring element is getting key words or going back to the topic. This is just in case one gets stuck and doesn't know what to write about one just goes back to those things to help them. The final recurring element is felt of wanting to write about the topic. By the writer being able to use felt sense means that they will be using emotion to write the composition in which they will be getting their the reader's attention.
i think it's essential and readers should go back and re-read what they wrote, that really would help them stay on topic and help us fully understand what they are trying to get to us.
