A teacher by the name of Anne was in a course research and basic writing at the
university of new York city. One of there assignments was to record there thoughts out
load when writing. They used the tapes as there basis for discussions. One of the purposes
was for the teachers could see there writing process and to check for alterations. She
detected certain basic patters in her process. Writing is recursive and on some writings it
is easy to spot but others are not it also depends on the topics. writers like to change
things and use key word in there compositions. Some writers backward movement is
done with how they feel and the words non verbal perception. When writers get a topic
they start imagining, getting ideas, words and fuzzy feelings. They try to draw the readers
a image and make was is vague to be clear. Writers usually start writing when something
clicks and ideas and words are just flowing out of there mind and into a paper. Felt sense
or inner voice is what gives them the momentum to write without stopping. Writers have
a guide that consist of 3 steps, planning, drafting, and revising. She wonders if learning
how to work with felt sense will end repetitive patterns. Even if you have the felt sense
you still go back and reread and if writer is off topic or not satisfied with the topic he
revises it, or if the writer feels like something is missing he wait for it to come to him.
When writers realizes that there is more structure in the composition and realizes
something new abut them selves leads them to discovery. Writers who use the linear
model easily get frustrated ,and have a small chance of making a discovery. Projection
structuring is the ability to craft what one intends to say so that it is intelligible to others.
Writers that use this structure are often flowed in that they focuses on what people want
to read not what they want to write. Writers that write this kind of papers are not that
passionate over writing.
q&R
2. Explain “felt sense” in your own words. How do you relate the description of “felt sense” in the reading to you own experience? Can you describe your “felt sense” when it comes to writing? How is your writing without felt sense?
Felt sense is when you get a topic and you write about it without stopping it just clicks
ideas just start flowing out of your mind and on to the piece of paper in front of you.
When felt sense hits me I get hyper, my leg starts shacking a lot and I think I start
shaking. I feel invincible, all my ideas just start flowing out onto paper. Sometimes I
think its like magic, pops out of nowhere.
I relate to the description on the article in the way that it say its like it just clicks.
I already described how felt sense feels to me on top, but I want to mention that its rear
for me to get felt sense, I would love to get it more often it would help me a lot in doing
my homework, especially in writing.
Without felt sense its really hard to get a writing assignment done. This one time I stared
at a bank page for about 2 hours before I got one sentence on the page. Its horrible when
it does not click.
