Summary:
Nancy Sommers article stated about all the different models that are helpful towards writing. She stated two representatives models which are known as Gordon Rohman’s and James Brittion’s about their suggestions with composing and writing, Rohman suggested “that the composing process moves from prewriting to writing to rewriting” and James Brittions suggestion was that the “models of writing process as a series of stages described in metaphors of linear growth conception- incubation- production.” These theory concluded that men put its own experiences into words of writing. Linear models have two specific ways known as Rhetorical model which was created for spoken art of oratory. Rhetoric offers “stages” in composition it reduces the revision in writing as well as speech. Revising is also known as a way of repetition while writing superfluous and redundant are theories which are not combined with writing and specific students do not often use the terms revising and rewriting, they seem to list a lot of repetition throughout their writing. Experienced writers have many imagination they put themselves as the reader while they are writing so that they can know and realize if the writing is correct. Two well-known elements experienced by writers of revision are known as adoption of a holistic perspective and the perception that revision is a recursive process.
Question: What are the importance and the main ideas of “Revision of Student Writers?”
Response: It was found that students would not acquire the terms of revision and rewriting. It was common for the students to say that rewriting was uncomfortable for their use for the fact that they briefly believed that, rewriting was only used by their teachers, while in the other hand students build up various terms that lead them to make their own changes. Students briefly understand the process of the rewriting activities, the reason of them understanding and getting the hand of it is because they “perceive words parts from their role in the text.” Students believe that their goal of revision is to correct errors and just have ir all as cleated up speech. It is known that repetition of speech is unused towards the term of writing, because writing can be reread while speech cannot. Student have many different opinions towards writing students writing is translation. The conflict most students face is with the term repetition, is one of the elements that is highly listed as their worries. Therefore, it makes them delete repetition that has been previously used so students think that redoing it is just a word that us no need within their writing.
